The evidence for it being recommended includes the hadith related by Hakim and Bayhaqi, from Abu Sa`id (Allah be pleased with him), Whoever recites Surat al-Kahf on Friday, light shall shine forth for him between the two Fridays. [Ibn Hajar, Talkhis al-Habir]

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
This sura is one of five suras that start with " Alhamdo li Allah" ( All Praise is to Allah) which they are "" Alfatiha, Al A'naam, Alkahf, sabaa', Fater "".
Our beloved prophet told us as it stated in the Sahih of the Hdaith :" who reads the kahf in the friday night, Allah will give him noor ( Light) as in between him and the old house"Kaaba" "....fahras Al darami.
and as it stated in Sahih Muslim in the long hadith:" when the dajaal appears who read the openinings of sura al kahf, Allah will protect him from the Dajaal"
Let's taste the beauty of this sura
There are FOUR Stories in this sura that summerize the FOUR diffrent kinds of fitna( temptation) in each story. The Four Temptations are:
1) The Story of Ahl Alkahf ( Fitna Of The Deen )
2) The Story of The Owners of the 2 gardens ( Fitna Of The Money )
3) The Story of Moses and al Khader (PBU them) (Fitna Of The knowledge)
4) The Story of tho Al Qarnain ( Fitna Of The Power )
These Four "Fitna" are so hard on people because the Shaytaan will be the one behind them by decorating and tempting what These Fitna carriy with.
The beautiful thing about This sura is mentioning the Fitna" The Temptation" and the cure to avoid falling in each Fitna:
1) Story of Ahl Alkahf: the story of the young men who ran away from their king so they can worship Allah, then the miracle happened when Allah made them sleep 309 years.
The Fitna in the Fisrt Sura is the Temptation of being in a land where it is full of corruption and joyful sins, where you will be dragged away from your duties of worshipping and obeying Allah.
However the Cure came later in the story...the Perfect soluation that will help you to worship Allah:
" Restrain thyself along with those who cry unto their Lord at morn and evening, seeking His countenance; and let not thine eyes overlook them, desiring the pomp of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance, who followeth his own lust and whose case hath been abandoned. "
2) the story of the owner of the gardens: a man who Allah blessed him with money and gardens and whatever a man can dream of. then he disgraced all these blesses and related all this blesses to himself so Allah after that sent a storm that destroyed all his gardens and took away all his money.
the Fitna here is the Money and Fortune, that build inside the ego and the more you have the more it will distract you from your duties tward Allah/
Yet the cure of this Fitna was mentioned later to cure us from such temptation:
Wealth and children are an ornament of life of the world. But the good deeds which endure are better in thy Lord's sight for reward, and better in respect of hope.
3) The Story of Moses: Moses (PBUH) thought he is the most knowledgable person in the earth but Allah showed him that there is someone more knowledgable than him. therefore he went thru all the experiences when he was questioning about everything that happened and it didn't make sense to him.
The Third Fitna is The Fitna Of Knowledge..when some might think they know everything and that will build the ego inside without noticing.
yet the cure was the patiance and being Humble:
" He said: Allah willing, thou, shalt find me patient and I shall not in aught gainsay thee:
4) Story of Tho Al Qarnain: A just king who ruled the earth and filled it with justice until he reached the yajooj and majooj and built the barrier between them and the others.
The Fitna Of power wher you rule and have all the earth between your hands do whatever you wish and the sura as well showed that the cure of the fitna is being sincere in all the deeds to Allah and remebering the judgment day:
"Say: Shall We inform you who will be the greatest losers by their work? Those whose effort goeth astray in the life of the world, and yet they reckon that they do good work."
and the sura ends with the general cure for everything you may go through in your life:
"Say: I am only a mortal like you. My Lord inspireth in me that your God is only One God. And whoever hopeth for the meeting with his Lord, let him do righteous work, and make none sharer of the worship due unto his Lord."
