73. Surah Al-Muzzammil (The One wrapped in Garments)

Surah Muzammil (73) By Qaari Ziyad Patel

73. Surah Al-Muzzammil (The One wrapped in Garments)

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, Most Merciful

1. O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad )!

2. Stand (to pray) all night, except a little.

3. Half of it, or a little less than that,

4. Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style .

5. Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.).

6. Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah).

7. Verily, there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties,

8. And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with a complete devotion.

9. (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs) .

10. And be patient (O Muhammad ) with what they say, and keep away from them in a good way.

11. And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while.

12. Verily, with Us are fetters (to bind them), and a raging Fire.

13. And a food that chokes, and a painful torment.

14. On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down.

15. Verily, We have sent to you (O men) a Messenger (Muhammad ) to be a witness over you, as We did send a Messenger [Musa (Moses)] to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) .

16. But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment.

17. Then how can you avoid the punishment, if you disbelieve, on a Day that will make the children grey-headed (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)?

18. Whereon the heaven will be cleft asunder? His Promise is certainly to be accomplished.

19. Verily, this is an admonition, therefore whosoever will, let him take a Path to His Lord!

20. Verily, your Lord knows that you do stand (to pray at night) a little less than two-thirds of the night, or half the night, or a third of the night, and so do a party of those with you, And Allah measures the night and the day. He knows that you are unable to pray the whole night, so He has turned to you (in mercy). So, recite you of the Qur'an as much as may be easy for you. He knows that there will be some among you sick, others travelling through the land, seeking of Allah's Bounty; yet others fighting in Allah's Cause. So recite as much of the Qur'an as may be easy (for you), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat, and lend to Allah a goodly loan, and whatever good you send before you for yourselves, (i.e. Nawafil non-obligatory acts of worship: prayers, charity, fasting, Hajjand 'Umrah, etc.), you will certainly find it with Allah, better and greater in reward. And seek Forgiveness of Allah. Verily, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

Envy is justified is regard to two types of persons only:

Some dua's to be kept in mind and may Allah SWT accept it: I ask you Allah to make the best of my DEED, THE LAST ONE I ask you Allah to make the best of my LIFE, THE END OF IT I ask you Allah to make the best of my DAY, THE DAY I MEET YOU

"Ibn Umar r.a. reported: The Prophet SAW said: "Envy is justified is regard to two types of persons only: a man whom Allah has given knowledge of the Qur'an, and so he recites it during the night and during the day; and a man whom Allah has given wealth and so he spends from it during the night and during the day." [Reported by Bukhari and Muslim] Ibn Mas'ud r.a. reported: The Messenger of Allah SAW said, "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter, and Mim is a letter." (Related by At-Tirmidhi)

Recite Surah 32 (As-Sajdah) and Surah 67 (Al-Mulk) in Arabic.

"المٓ ۞ تَنْزِيلُ الْكِتَابِ" وَ "تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي بِيَدِهِ الْمُلْكُ".

110: Recite Surah 32 (As-Sajdah) and Surah 67 (Al-Mulk) in Arabic.

Be with Allah You will find Allah with you.

The evil eye is a reality. It can be powerful. Qadi Abu Bakr Ibn al-Arabi al-Maliki and others explain that it is from Allahs Will that sometimes He creates harmful effects from the evil or jealous glances and looks of others.

However, if one shields oneself with the medicines of the sunna of the Beloved of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace), it wards off all normal problems.

1. One should not miss saying the 3 Quls (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad, Falaq, and Naas) every morning and every night, ideally 3 times. One should ideally say them once after every prayer. One should strive to do this with presence of heart and mind.

2. One should do likewise with Ayat al-Kursi: recite it every morning and night, and ideally after every prayer. Reflect on the tremendous meanings of this verse.

3. Both #1 and #2 should be done before sleep, as well.

4. One should make dua that Allah protect one from the evil eye, by such Prophetic duas as the one transmitted by Bukhari, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Ahmad, and others:

A`udhu bi kalimaatillahi ttaammati min kulli shaytaanin wa haamma wa min kulli `aynin laamma

(I seek refuge in Allah most perfect words from every devil, harmful thing, and accusing eye.)

أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّةِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ وَهَامَّةٍ وَمِنْ كُلِّ عَيْنٍ لَامَّةٍ

(If you couldnt view the Arabic, View>Encoding>Arabic from your menu)

5. One should try to make dua before all major acts, asking Allah to give one success (tawfiq), sincerity (ikhlaq), and make the action a means of attaining unto the love and good pleasure (rida) of Allah Most High.

Sayyidi Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi said,

Be with Allah

You will find Allah with you.

كُنْ مَعَ الله *** تَرَ اللهَ مَعَك

Be with Allah by loving Him, turning to Him in all your affairs, by obeying His commands out of love, thanks and servanthood, You will find Allah with you, for He is "closer to you than your jugular vein," and He does not let the efforts of those who seek Him go to waste.

O Allah,1 I submit myself to You, entrust my affairs to You, turn my face to You, and lay myself down depending upon You , hoping in You and fearing..

111: Allaahumma 'aslamtu nafsee 'ilayka, wa fawwadhtu 'amree 'ilayka, wa wajjahtu wajhee 'ilayka, wa 'alja'tu dhahree 'ilayka, raghbatan wa rahbatan 'ilayka, laa raalja' wa laa manja minka 'illaa 'ilayka, 'aamantu bikitaabikal-lathee 'anzalta wa bi-nabiyyikal-lathee 'arsalta.

O Allah,1 I submit myself to You, entrust my affairs to You, turn my face to You, and lay myself down depending upon You , hoping in You and fearing You . There is no refuge , and no escape, except to You. I believe in Your Book (the Qur'an) that You revealed, and the Prophet whom You sent.

SUPPLICATION BEFORE SLEEPING...

SUPPLICATION BEFORE SLEEPING...

Hudhaifah states , Before the Holy Prophet went to sleep he would pray this supplication:

'Allahuma bismika Amutu wa ahya'
'O Almighty Allah in your name I live and die!'

IMAM SHAFI STATES THAT THERE ARE 4 TYPES OF SLEEP...

1. To lie on the back is the sleep of the Prophets .

2. To sleep on the right side is the sleep of the Worshippers.

3. To sleep on the left side is the sleep of the rulers.

4. To sleep on the stomach is the sleep of the devil.

HOW THE HOLY PROPHET SLEPT...

The Messenger of Allah would put his blessed right hand under his blessed right cheek. He would lie on his blessed right side, facing the Qibla and rest on a pillow that was made from leaves of a date tree.

When a person sleeps with wudhu, Allah Almighty gives permission for the soul to visit the arsh and to bow to Almighty Allah. Whilst sleeping in the state of wudhu, the reward for worship is being written for you in your book of deeds all night, SubhanAllah!

The Holy Prophet bed...

Aisha radhiallahu anha states, "The Prophet 's bed was made of animal skin which had leaves of date trees."

Umar states, "The Prophet was sleeping on a mat, the marks of the mat were left on his blessed side. I said, O messenger of Allah only if you would sleep on something better than this.' The Holy Prophet replied, "What have I to gain in this world, this world is like a traveller is travelling in the sun and he sits under a tree, gets up and goes."

SUPPLICATION POSITION...

Aisha radiallahu anha states, "When the Messenger of Allah would lay down every night on his bed, he would raise his hands in the supplication position and pray. He would recite;

surah Ikhlas 3 times

Surah Naas once

Surah Falaq once

and blow on his palms and wipe his hands over his blessed body to where they could reach."

DO NOT LIE ON THE STOMACH...

The Holy Prophet never lied on his blessed stomach and if he saw anyone doing saw anyone doing so he would wake them up by his feet and be very upset.

Ya'eesh bin Tagta Gafari narrates from his father that he states "I was lying on my stomach, suddenly a person nudged me with his feet and said, 'to lie down like this is disliked by Allah Almighty.' When I turned to se who it was, I saw the Messenger of Allah ."

Our Holy Prophet said,

"When a person enters hs bed (to sleep) an angel and devil surround him. The devil whispers, 'Your awakeneing will end in evil' and the angel says, 'ends in good.' But if one sleeps after engaging in rememebrance the angels will protect him through the night."

what to do and read before sleep at night : pray To wake up for Tahajjud Salaah

what to do and read before sleep at night

sleep

Surah Al Noor ayat 43 : And He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains,

Al-Noor
See you not that Allâh drives the clouds gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a heap of layers, and you see the rain comes forth from between them. And He sends down from the sky hail (like) mountains, (or there are in the heaven mountains of hail from where He sends down hail), and strike therewith whom He wills, and averts it from whom He wills. The vivid flash of its (clouds) lightning nearly blinds the sight. [Tafsir At-Tabarî]. (43) Allâh causes the night and the day to succeed each other (i.e. if the day is gone, the night comes, and if the night is gone, the day comes, and so on). Truly, in these things is indeed a lesson for those who have insight. (44)

Snow and ice spread across UK

Motorists have been stranded and hundreds of schools closed on Monday as the UK continues to shiver in the grip of freezing temperatures and heavy snow.

Forecasters warned there was no sign of a let-up in the icy conditions, with several more centimetres of snow continuing to fall in the North East and parts of eastern Scotland over coming days.

The rest of the UK will also be affected, with snow moving south, and only parts of western Scotland and Northern Ireland free of snow showers by Tuesday afternoon, forecasters said.

In Scotland, more than 600 people were offered emergency accommodation at a sports hall in Perth after they were stranded overnight on the A90, M90 and A9 amid blizzard conditions.

The A9 between Dunblane and Perth, one of the busiest roads in Scotland, was closed on Sunday night, with drivers urged by Central Scotland Police to avoid the roads throughout the rest of the force area unless absolutely necessary.

All schools in Dundee, West Lothian and Shetland were closed and around 50 were forced to shut in York and North Yorkshire. Several schools in East Yorkshire also closed for the day.
