Love for the Dunya (The Worldy Life) - Lecture by Dr. Ibrahim Dremali
We will be either one of two types of people on the Day of Judgment. It is our choice to make which group we want to be with. The issue is - When will we make the choice - now or later? Through the 8 ayat from Surah at-Takathur (Surah #102), Dr. Dremali explains the effects of loving this Dunya. Also through many inspriational examples he gives reminders on how to work for and long for the everlasting pleasure in the Afterlife.
102 - At-Takathur التكاثر
1:Alhakumut-takathur
The mutual rivalry for piling up of worldly things diverts you,
2:Hatta zurtumul maqabir
Until you visit the graves (i.e. till you die).
3:Kalla sawfa ta'alamoon
Nay! You shall come to know!
4:Thumma kalla sawfa ta'alamoon
Again, Nay! You shall come to know!
5:Kalla law ta'alamoona 'ilmal yaqeen
Nay! If you knew with a sure knowledge (the end result of piling up, you would not have occupied yourselves in worldly things)
6:Latarawunnal jaheem
Verily, You shall see the blazing Fire (Hell)!
7:Thumma latarawunnaha 'aynal yaqeen
And again, you shall see it with certainty of sight!
8:Thumma latus-alunna yawma-ithin 'anianna'eem
Then, on that Day, you shall be asked about the delight (you indulged in, in this world)!
"The nations are about to call each other and set upon you, just as diners set upon food." It was said: "Will it be because of our small number that day?" He said: "Rather, on that day you will be many, but you will be like foam, like the foam on the river. And Allaah will remove the fear of you from the hearts of your enemies and will throw wahn (weakness) into your hearts." Someone said: "O Messenger of Allaah! What is Wahn?" He said: "Love of the world and the hatred for death." Saheeh: Related by Abu Dawood (no.4297), Ibn'Asaakirin in Taareekh Dimashq (2/97/8) and others. It was authenticated by al-Albaanee in as-Saheehah (no.958)
